How do I learn?

There are several ways you can learn. One of my ways to learning is repetition, going over the material over and over helps me to remember it. If I will write it and then read out loud, then study it as well it sees to sink into my brain just a little bit easier. However, that always doesn’t work for me. There are many times I will wait to the last minute and study because it is fresh in my memory and I will do better on test. Test is one of my weaknesses. I am not a great test taker. I will do fine on all the class work but when it comes to taking the test I do badly on it. I have tried several different things but nothing seems to help. Sometimes, I need someone to explain it to me if I don’t understand it to make it clearer for me. For example, math is a subject that I have a hard time on it. My husband who is a math geek can get the answer without even doing the problem, irritating to me. Anyway, he will help me by showing me and relating it to something most of the time. I just try real hard to find some kind of way to make me understand and learn the subject I am preparing for.

When I took the multiple intelligence tests it suggests that my strength is in musical and I am an intrapersonal. Musical I can understand when I study or any free time I like to have music in the background playing. The music calms me and I am not as stressed with studying for the material I need to know. I also didn’t realize that I do put things into rhyme especially for my daughter when she needs to know something for school. I often will sing a song and put what I need to know to it. This technique helps me often. However, never realized I did that until this survey.

As for motivation, I myself put high standards on myself and want to make sure I get everything out of the course that I can and do it with an awesome grade. I will sometimes tell myself, “If I can pulled out an A in this course I will go by a new purse” something to that effect. Some other motivation that my husband does is; he is always telling me you can do it, have faith in yourself, and don’t sweat the small stuff. Work on what you can change and not the things you can’t change. You could say he is my little cheerleader. My biggest motivation right now is to complete school and be able to teach the kids. I really want to finished and be able to start in a classroom. I have a few outstanding teachers and I want to be able to give back what I was taught.

  1. I am the same way when it comes to study because I am organized but I study at the last minute.Plus I'm not a good test taker sometimes if i study a lot then I can pass a test other than that its hard. Well have a good weekend.

  2. I can agree. I love repitition. I really don't liek the intrapersonal, but apparently am so I don't mind it. It did suprise me though. As far as motivation, I really can't wait either. I want to be out there giving back and impacting the young students in my classroom. I think we have some areas in common such as the music as well. Have a good weekend!

  3. Test are my weakness. I study and memorize but I never do as well as I would like when it comes to tests. I didn't fall into the musical MI but I love listening to music every second that I can. I bet that if I could listen to music while taking a test I would probably do way better...maybe.
