EDRG 3321 Chapter 4
I really enjoyed the activity we did in class on Thursday. Reading the story three different times from three different perspectives allows you to realize not everyone is going to have the same perspective. What I got out is not the same from the student next to me and that is what will happen in your classrooms. You will have different students who perceive different perspectives from the reading assignments that you give out.
We as teachers need to make sure that we give the children opportunities to deepen their knowledge threw literature. Have the children do activity before reading, during reading, and after reading to get their mind in motion. They also can have journals or graphic organizers to be able to reflect what they believe are going on in the story. Or write what they feel about and how they like or dislike the story. Have the student retell the story through a skit or a discussion. There are endless ways to get the student involves with reading and having them enjoy what they are reading. The teacher just needs to be aware of all her students and make sure that all of her students are engage and loving to read.
